The board I have created is called Places to Visit and there are pictures that mean a great deal to me, both personally and professionally. One of my colleagues lives in Umbria and she sends me pictures of her hometown and information on different festivals. A major upside to working with language, especially foreign language is that you get to see different cultures and different countries.
One of the photos is Greco-Roman ruins and I chose that one because it reminded me of similar ruins I saw when I went to Ephaseus. It was a rich experience, unfortunately, I do not have my camera. So, this was a great reminder.
For students, this is a great tool for visual learners. These visuals are especially helpful when dealing with a multilingual, multilevel classroom. There may be 100 ways to say cat, but if I use images of animals and some of the worksheets from online, it will explain better than I can. Cat is a weak example, but the main point is that pictures, in this case, are really worth a thousand words.
Speaking of words, there really are some harsh ones in the world of macro images. I understand that this can be a force for good, but WOW. I had no idea people could be that....well just that. Anyway, this class has been so helpful in getting me more into technology I felt that this was appropriate. I set up an account with imgflip and they showed my how to set something up. This is getting to be a lot of fun.
My students are adults and most of them have never used a computer before coming to my class. That article with all the links to different boards really coincides with what I am doing now with my class, which is prepositions. I simply love it.
